Natalie began her professional career teaching mathematics in grades 9–12 to students from all backgrounds. During that time, she employed a broad range of instructional techniques with hand-picked instructional materials. She was a pioneer for her school district in the initial implementation of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, drafting scope and sequence documents and aligning resources for the high school courses.

Thus began her mission to help provide students and teachers with high-quality learning materials that meet the needs of all students. Since leaving the classroom, Natalie has worked in curriculum development and educational publishing as a project manager, writer, and editor, contributing to mathematics programs including Eureka Math by Great Minds, WorkKeys by Edgenuity, ACT assessments, and Watson IBM Teacher Adviser. Her experiences include using her strong communication skills to lead a team of teachers in creating a virtual curriculum program and also building and managing small- and large-scale editorial and production project teams, providing excellent subject matter expertise. The following items represent the range of her work:

  • Supervising and training a team of subject matter experts in the development of original, accurate, and engaging mathematics content for grades 6–8

  • Establishing project specifications, setting benchmarks and deadlines, assigning tasks and resources, and tracking project goals to ensure successful project completion

  • Working collectively within cross-functional departments including content development, technology integration, copy edit, and quality assurance to build interactive lesson components and maintain high quality

  • Writing and editing various middle school lesson components, including interactive video scripts, direct instruction, interactive assessment items, and reteach material

  • Designing and delivering professional development sessions using research- based methods tailored to the specific needs of the educators

  • Utilizing various technologies, such as Learning Management Systems and interactive assessment platforms in the development of content

  • Aligning content, lesson materials, and resources to the CCSSM and other specific state and national standards for grades K–12

  • Curating and vetting digital resources used to create skill-based learning pathways for students in grades 9–12

  • Developing unique question items that align with standards and guidelines and assess at specific depth of knowledge (DOK) levels and also providing rationales for all question distractors

Natalie earned her BA in Mathematics and MA in Secondary Education/Mathematics through an intensive five-year program at West Virginia University. During that time, she also studied the Spanish language and traveled to Spain. Natalie has devoted her energy to learning innovative teaching strategies with the hopes of engaging and reaching all learners. Additionally, she maintains her teaching certificate for Pennsylvania Mathematics Grades 7–12.
